Megan, we believe that there are milk machines in Carrington and Glass. Burch is the name of our vending contractors and they pulled milk from the buildings because they weren't as profitable. Milk also has a shorter expiration date and it probably takes more attention to keep fresh product stocked as well.
With a move toward healthy living, the next time we change vending machines, this should probably be reconsidered. Thanks for the suggestion!

I will be an incoming freshman for the next school year. I was wondering if there is anything I could do to become a RA?-Brittney?
Brittney, good question! You will be able to apply in December/January of your freshman year to be an RA your Sophomore year. In January you will go through an interview process called Carousel where you interview with folks from our department through different activities. We have lots of positions in Residence Life for which you might be interested. Also keep your eyes peeled for Residential Programming Assistant (RPA) and Residence Hall Association (RHA) Executive Board positions. Once you get here, I would recommend getting involved in your Hall Council. You'll learn how to plan programs, work with a team, and start to meet some of our professional hall staff - all things that are important when applying for an RA position. From there the possibilities are endless with getting involved in housing! Next fall Missouri State's RHA will also be hosting a regional student leadership conference called MACURH. This will be a huge undertaking, but will be a REALLY rewarding experience in which to participate. Get involved when you get here to get you feet wet and see what interests you the most, there really is so many opportunities! We'll have publicity around your residence hall explaining these. We look forward to seeing you in the fall!

I will hopefully be attending MSU in the spring 2010 and want to live at home. Is there any paperwork I need to fill out?
There sure is! If you go to http://reslife.missouristate.edu/assets/reslife/Exception.pdf, you will find a form to fill out for an exception to live on campus. Let us know if you have any other questions

I would like to order a Halloween care package for my daughter. I don't see it under the care package service. Is it too late to order one?- Debbie
Debbie, it is not too late to order the Halloween Care Packages or Valentines Day, we just switched over to our finals care package offerings. You can order one by calling 1-800-892-8741 and they will sign you up, it's just that easy!

I sent my daughter a package of "college goodies" that is too big to fit in her mailbox. How is it delivered to her when it's too big?- Jennifer
Jennifer, great question! Most of our student mailboxes in the residence halls are about 4 inches by 4 inches, but it can vary depending on the residence hall. All our residence halls have an electronic package system which means that any packages that do not fit in the mailbox will get "checked-in" at the front desk. The receptionist puts a slip in the students mailbox that says something along the lines of, "You have a package at the front desk, bring your student ID to the desk anytime (24 hours a day) to pick it up." Then, the student simply brings their student ID to the desk and the desk receptionist will check it out with our electronic system.

Is it possible to get out of the year-long housing contract that I have signed?-Evelyn
Evelyn, thanks for your question. Our housing contract are year-long contracts, but we do have some exceptions which include students who are graduating at semester, for students who study abroad, and a few others. The process we have in place if you need to break your contract includes meeting with our Department of Residence Life and Services. Here is a link http://reslife.missouristate.edu/assets/reslife/Breakage_Brochure.pdf with more information.

I'm the president of a student organization, we'd like to hang posters in the residence halls. How do I get our posters approved to hang up? - Melissa
If you print approximately 125 copies of your flier and go to the ResLife office in Hammons 101, they can help you. Assuming your poster meets policy requirements, the Department of Residence Life and Services will approve them and distribute them to Resident Assistants to hang on their floors.
I don't know where I am staying in the fall; can you tell me? Also, who do I contact if I forget the password to my Bearmail account? - Jennifer
If you have received an assignment, then mailings should have been sent with detailed information. On the left side of the ResLife website at http://reslife.missouristate.edu/ you’ll find links to information about filling out a contract if you are admitted for fall 2009. You can always call 417-836-5536 for more information about housing.
If you forgot your password, there are several ways to be able to log in again. If you go to https://cams.missouristate.edu/selfservice/changepassword.aspx it will offer for you to change your password, that’s probably the easiest way to log back in to your bearmail account.

I need to put a name and number down as a "Landlord" for an off-campus apartment application. Who in Residence Life should I write? - Faith
You can put down 417-836-5536, the number to the main housing office. Our office will be able to let a landlord know that you are a resident and that your housing account was paid. Usually that will suffice for an off-campus landlord. If they need more information, a release of information form would need to be signed for anyone at the university to share information protected under the FERPA (Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act) laws.

If I withdraw from the university will I be able to stay in my room until the semester is over? - Stephanie
When you withdraw from the university, you will receive paperwork that explains that you will need to vacate the residence hall within 24 hours. You will show these papers to your Resident Assistant and they will have to sign off on your Room Condition Report once you have out. You may be able to work with your Hall Director to answer any other questions or have extenuating circumstances, but the ability to stay until the end of the semester after withdrawing will not be offered.

How do I order the final exams care package online? - Sandra
RHA and the Department of Residence Life and Services provide a service selling care packages for delivery to students. The new online ordering makes it easy to send a care package to a resident of Missouri State. If you click on the "order your care package" image on the RHA homepage, it will take you to the care package provider's website, where you can place your order. There are currently five different options and any of them will be delivered during finals week to the room you specify.

I will be a freshman next year and have been assigned to a room in Wells. Is there a way I can know who my roommate is? - Bryan
You can check your roommate if you go to http://rms.missouristate.edu/ and login with your RMS ID and password. The ID was emailed to you and the password is your social security number unless you have changed it. After logging on, click on "Assignment" on the right side of the page. Next, click on "View Roommate Information/Room Change Request". There should be a column that says "Roommates" with the number of roommates you have underneath it. Click on the number and it will display the name(s) of your roommate(s).
Is Freddy as nice as Wells? If not, what residence hall would you recommend? - Emiley
All of the residence halls at Missouri State have their own advantages and personalities. Attributes that one person may like, others may not. Freddy and Wells are both room-style buildings and both have been at least partially remodeled in the last few years. I would recommend touring all the residence halls on campus to see what you like for yourself. You can also see different parts of the residence halls on the Virtual Tours page at http://reslife.missouristate.edu/virtualtours.htm. More information about the residence halls can be found at http://reslife.missouristate.edu/genfacilitiesinfo.htm.
